From Gaziantep to Your Door

Every Koçak baklava starts in our kitchen in Gaziantep and reaches your door in 2–5 business days. Here is how it gets to you, how long it keeps, and what happens if anything goes wrong on the way.

The journey

  1. You place your order. You get an order confirmation by email right away.

  3. FedEx Express picks it up. We email you a tracking link the moment it ships.
  4. It clears US customs. FedEx handles customs clearance on our behalf, and we pay the import duties. There is nothing to pay at your door.
  5. It arrives at your door. Delivery takes 2–5 business days after dispatch. Customers in Chicago have received their order in 2 days; the West Coast usually takes up to 5.

What shipping costs

Shipping is calculated from the total weight of your order. You'll see the exact amount at checkout before you pay.

How we pack it

Baklava is delicate, so it travels in sturdy tins, cushioned with protective paper, to keep it safe from our kitchen to yours.

How long it stays fresh

Room-temperature days count from the day it's made and include transit. Fridge days start when you refrigerate it.

How to store and serve

  • Keep it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, ideally at 64–68°F (18–20°C).
  • Keep it covered so it doesn't dry out.
  • Syrup varieties: enjoy them soon after delivery, or refrigerate them when they arrive to keep them longer. Please don't refrigerate Dry Baklava or Special Dry.
  • If you refrigerate it, let it sit at room temperature for 30–60 minutes before serving. To bring back the crunch, warm it gently in the oven at 300°F (150°C) for a few minutes. Please avoid the microwave.
  • Serve it with Turkish tea or coffee. One or two pieces per person is traditional.

Why Gaziantep

Gaziantep has been the heart of Turkish baklava for generations. In 2013, Antep Baklava became the first Turkish product to receive the European Union's Protected Geographical Indication. In 2015, UNESCO named Gaziantep a Creative City of Gastronomy. The city's pistachios, thin hand-rolled phyllo and clarified butter are what make its baklava different, and that is what we ship to you.

Frequently asked questions

Where is Koçak baklava made?

In our kitchen in Gaziantep, Türkiye. Every order ships directly from there to your address. We don't have a warehouse or store outside Türkiye.

How long does delivery to the US take?

2–5 business days after dispatch. Your baklava leaves Gaziantep on the day it's made, and you'll get a FedEx tracking link by email.

How much is shipping?

Shipping is calculated from the total weight of your order. You'll see the exact amount at checkout before you pay.

Will I have to pay customs duties?

No. We pay the US import duties, and FedEx handles customs clearance on our behalf, so there is nothing to pay at your door.

Will it arrive fresh?

Yes. It leaves Gaziantep on the day it's made, travels in a protective tin, and reaches you in 2–5 business days. Syrup varieties are at their best within 5 days of baking, so enjoy them soon after delivery or refrigerate them for up to 10–15 days. Dry Baklava keeps 10–15 days at room temperature. If a customs or carrier delay holds up your order, email us at customerservice@kocakbaklava.com and we'll make it right.

Should I refrigerate baklava?

Syrup varieties, yes, if you'd like them to last longer: sealed at 32–39°F (0–4°C), they keep 10–15 days. Let them sit at room temperature for 30–60 minutes before serving. Dry Baklava and Special Dry shouldn't be refrigerated; keep them in a cool, dry place.

Can I freeze baklava?

We don't recommend it. Freezing and thawing can soften the crisp phyllo layers and change the balance of the syrup, so we can't guarantee the same quality as on the first day.

What if my order arrives damaged?

Email a photo to customerservice@kocakbaklava.com within 48 hours of delivery and we'll send a free replacement. You don't need to return anything.

Do you ship during the summer?

Yes. Your baklava travels in a protective tin and reaches you in 2–5 business days. We recommend having someone at home on the delivery day so the parcel doesn't sit outside in the heat.

Do Şöbiyet and Mussel baklava come with cream?

From October 15 through the cooler months, yes: they're filled with kaymak (clotted cream). In warmer months we ship them without the cream filling, because cream doesn't stay fresh in transit. Cream-filled pieces keep for a shorter time than our other baklava, so please refrigerate them as soon as they arrive and enjoy them soon.

Can I send baklava as a gift?

Yes. Enter the recipient's address at checkout and add a gift note in the cart. Prices aren't shown on the packing slip.
